Slept In.

I am late for work AGAIN. I seem to have been discovering every known way of miss-setting my alarm this week. Today I had it set for 'weekend alarm' rather than 'weekday alarm', and it went off a minute or two after I woke up by myself, 2 hours later than planned.

So, I just missed the free breakfast and buses are no longer on rush-hour schedule. Great.  At least its a good thing that most of the folks at the office work from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Showing up at 11:30 or so will not really cramp anyone elses style, and my first meeting of the day isn't until 4:00.

Still, this is an inconvenient time to wake up, and is the reason I've been doing the 10-6 routine and thinking of switching to 9-5.

As is, the sun down most days when I get home at 7:00, and if I were to get home closer to 6:00, would have a bit more light in the evenings. Don't know if the disruption of sleep schedule is worth it though.

In any case, I am now dry from the shower, and have to rummage me a breakfast before heading out.

It seems I have weathered the first minor political storm at work and have come out okay. Not to say that certain unpleasant issues might not return at some point, but today went much, MUCH better than I had expected. A meeting I had been dreading turned out to be a positive thing, and my next task is looking more interesting than the last one was.

So, for now, tentative optimism is the rule.

700 superclusters of galaxies are all being pulled in the same direction by some unknown force. No one has any idea what that force might be, but dark energy and dark matter have both already been ruled out. The best guess is that something really, really big that sits outside the observable universe is sucking everything its way.

Marcus, my brother, was just here for a quick visit. He's staying at a hotel up the road since there wasn't any room available in mine. He wanted to make sure he knew how to get here.

Tomorrow the two of us are going out shopping because he is car (well, SUV) equipped. I do wonder at what the state of his vehicle will be as he stopped by here on his way home from Burning Man. Things might get a mite dusty tomorrow.

For now though he's confirmed that I am A) alive and B) in California as he says Mom instructed him to make sure, and has headed back to his hotel to crash for the night. That probably means I need to get up by 8:00 am tomorrow so that I'll be awake and coherent when he shows up around 9:30 for breakfast and shopping.
