Help! Is there a MAC enthusiast in the audience? It turns out that when folks visit the penultimate page of my website using Netscape 4.x on a Mac, none of the form buttons appear. I can't duplicate this without a Mac, so I can't debug it. Is there anyone out there with a Mac who is willing to spend a few hours on the phone with me trying different things to see what is and is not working?
I'm beginning to feel that I'm on top of this whole fsking worldcon website project. I have, if not mastered http, html, javascript, CSS1-2, cgi, perl and dtd, and least gotten to the point that they are familiar and I have a good idea of what it is I'm doing.
I also managed (with more than a little difficulty) to summon up the courage to phone up the people at mci and ask why my scripts weren't running. Not only did I manage to get a coherent and reasonable answer, but I was given a propper developers account and everything, so that I have offical people to talk to if something goes wrong.
So, 98% of the code is written. Everything, in fact, except for the final crucial last step of actually producing the output that is the whole reason behind this project. I have one day left before we go live and, I figure, about 1/2 days work left.
I actually feel like I'm on top of things. Come the weekend though, I'm gonna wanna REST.

Jun. 8th, 2003 11:35 pmSo, had fun at the mouse house today. Enough folks showed up that it was much fun. Must do it again soon.
Now though, I have some files I have to write up, collect together and mail off to
_sps_ as a way of delegating some of my website work for the Toronto Worldcon (and yeah the website sucks. I had nothing to do with the parts you can see from that link.)
This last week has been kind of hectic. I am simultaneously
A) brushing up on my Perl,
B) Learning how taint perl works,
C) Learning the CGI:: and XML::Parser perl libraries
D) learning how CGI interfaces work,
E) Learning HTML, and
F) Learning Javascript
With the exception of Perl, my knowledge of all of these things last Friday was negligible.
I've always meant to learn these things mind you, just not all in the same week. And now, off I go to do some e-mailing, and then I can sleep.
