The Morning.

I had trouble falling asleep last night, but once I did I slept like the dead. So much so that waking up this morning I felt like I was dragging my rotting flesh up out of the grave.

Do zombies have snooze alarms? 'cause I used mine heavily.

I've been up for an hour or so now, but I'm only just now at the point where I can see well enough to type.

Lightspeed

According to this article, some scientists have found a way to make light go faster than light. This is pretty big news, but its not a practical method of, for example, speeding up the rate of computations in an optical computer. On the other hand, they have also found a purely optical method of slowing the speed of light down that can be used at all wavelengths in common optical materials under standard conditions. ie. in light fibres. This has ALL SORTS of possible applications!

Clean, Clean, Clean.

Sometimes it seems like all I ever do is clean. Of course, on days like today it realy is true, mainly because on all other days I assiduously avoid cleaning. Still, we went and invited some folks over for supper (sfllaw, mricon, kalkully, and M.), so it behooves us to have the place looking not too terrible. Right now none of the furniture is in the right places because we're giving the floor a good sweep/mop but it already looks much better than it did just two days ago.

After Party

The dinner party was generally considered a success despite the absense of both sfllaw and mricon. I guess we'll just have to have them over another time. The food was good and the company was great. The weather gods decided to have a downpour while we were eating outside under the patio umbrella but we (mostly) managed to stay dry.

The biggest thing though is that the main living area is clean for the first time in months. As I type this the washemupatron is working on the last load of dishes, and everything is looking like this house is not inhabited by uberslobs. At least, so long as you stay on the main floor. And out of the bathrooms. And aren't too observant...
