According to this article, some scientists have found a way to make light go faster than light. This is pretty big news, but its not a practical method of, for example, speeding up the rate of computations in an optical computer. On the other hand, they have also found a purely optical method of slowing the speed of light down that can be used at all wavelengths in common optical materials under standard conditions. ie. in light fibres.
