Words ending in -um are neuter, so not scroti, but scrota.

Right. I should have remembered that. I just have trouble with the concept of male balls being 'neuter'.

I thought that too, but I think a scrotum was the old word for a wallet. It was used in a rude way for that part of the male body, just as "vagina" literally means "sword-sheath".

Yesterday, I heard that some children's book is being banned in some states because a boy (in the book) says, "The snake bit my dog on the scrotum."
