azrhey and pphaneuf. It was a bittersweet affair. Lots of laughing and fun, but underneath was (at least for me) the subtext that this is bringing us one step closer to a separation I am not looking forward to.
Later in the evening, sitting in the memorial area dedicated to the memory ofdenizsarikaya, it got a bit much to take. It seems that many of the folks that mean the most to me are scattering to the four winds. It does not mean the end of friendships -- they are too strong for that -- but it means the end of a time when we were all together and communication was easy.
Communication seems hard already, and distance has not yet begun to separate us. I try, in my halting way, to tell folks that they are important to me, that I love them and that I will not easily give up my friendships with them, but words are a poor medium to transmit such feelings. Not for the first time, tonight I wished there were some way to let someone into my head, to give them a window onto my thoughs, so that they could know, really know just how much they mean to me.
