Happy F-List.
Apr. 12th, 2006 01:40 pmYou know, even with the angst and the whinging and the various bits of disaster that are going on in the lives of members of my friends list, it still gives me a boost to read my f-list when I wake up. Somehow connecting with so many good people, even in a virtual way, lifts my spirits.
I'm now in a much better mood than when I awoke, and I'm only 1/2 way through catching-up on LJ.

Date: 2006-04-12 07:37 pm (UTC)Glad to see you're in a good mood. Wondering if I could "exploit" it. (I thought you of all people would know because half the time I don't understand a word of your tech posts!!)
Do you know why .dmg files have to opened and "launched" everytime I want to use the program? Am I doing something wrong?
I'm on Mac OS X tiger - please don't tell me THAT'S what I'm doing wrong,it's been too long, I cannot switch to PC.
Well, thanks in advance!

Date: 2006-04-12 08:21 pm (UTC)Still, a bit of googling seems to indicate that .dmg files are compressed images, which need to be uncompressed to be able to be used, which is what I think is happening when you open and launch one.
If you want to speed things up, I think you have to copy all of the files out of a .dmg into a normal folder, and see if that helps.
Sorry to be so vague. As I say, I'm not really a MAC person.
