Right now I'm feeling mighty sore. My arms and back is killing me from schlepping tons of junk out to the yard sale and back two days in a row. I also sunburned my arms rather badly. This makes going to bed uncomfortable, so despite being dead tired, I'm still awake.
Hmmm. Maybe a good stiff drink will help numb things enough to sleep. Certainly sounds like its worth a try anyway!

And the only thing sore is my thighs. Good form in lifting heavy sh*t is a must.) Granted, I'm trading weekly mildly sore arms against the off chance I need that muscle.....
Hmmm, a drink DOES sound good right about now.

Of course although I agree that a good stiff weightlifting program
of heavy weight and lots of sets (2 hours every other day)
for you would be just the thing, if you get too bored, you
get too bored. (Although such a program has a self-motivating
"bite" to it) Maybe you could join a circuit-training class
at the YMCA.

This is for weight control - if you are looking to run a marathon, then your needs may be different.

heavy weights and lots of sets. It's the skinny little ectomorphs
who need to conserve their energy during their workouts and do
only one or two sets per exercise, hitting only the major muscle
groups, in order to stimulate their muscles to grow. 20-30 mins
for them.
Having said that, perhaps I should yield to our advancing age.
Maybe us 40-ish types shouldn't kill ourselves so hard in the
weightroom anymore, so maybe swestrup should only lift for an hour,
ideally. Of course these times depend on equipment setup and how
hard you work; I'm writing assuming no kibitzing in the gym, but
keeping in mind the time needed to change plates on barbells. The
times could be reduced if he only needs to change pin settings
on a universal gym.
Professional bodybuilders have been known to do 20-min workouts.
One of my books* documents a Victor Casey, who did those. Arnold
Schwartzenegger observed that he attacked the weights like an
animal and that if he had to work out that hard, he'd go back to
Austria and be a skiing instructor.
