Well, yesterday's shopping trip was, again, a failure due to the car not starting. Currently we think its that the battery has never been fully recharged since it was drained during my SO's trip to LA. It also turns out that the Boomerang (anti-theft tracking device) is NOT a simple low-power transponder as I assumed, but is a continuous transmitter and is known to drain car batteries. So, taxlady called a friend and drove to Canadian Tire to buy a car booster kit. Once its charged up we'll boost the car and go for a day-long drive out to see the leaves change color in the townships. If we're right that will fully charge the battery and fix the problem. Otherwise, we could end up needing a tow.

We're thinking of inviting a friend or two for the drive but we're not sure how to word the invitation: "Hi, we're thinking of going on a long car trip to see if our car is really broken. Wanna come along?"

Well, we would like to go on the trip as soon as Monday, but Linda's schedule is kinda tight right now. We might not manage to go until next weekend. I dunno. Things are still in the planning stages. If you're willing to risk possible car troubles, you are welcome to come along.

So, I've talked to taxlady about timing. Monday we HAVE to buy food, especially if we're about to attempt to break the car :-/. Tuesday is already fully booked, so the first free day we can do this trip is Wednesday, and we would want to take the trip before the following Monday. Now, if either of you (Deniz & Azrhey) have an analog cell phone (or CB-band walkie talkie or portable ham radio...) that would tip us in favor of modifying the trip schedule to match yours, as we would then have a more reliable way to signal for help in the case of catastrophic car failure. If neither or both of you have such equipment, then the best bet is to see if there is any time you can BOTH make it in that period. Otherwise, I guess we'll go with whoever's schedule lets us go the soonest.

... or something like that. I suspect the above algorithm has bugs, but at least it shows our thinking...

monday i am busied , tuesday and wednesday are ok . thursday and onwards i work until mid november or so .

So, Wednesday my schedule is... lemme see...

Well, if I get my work done quickly, or get a lot done late tonight, I'll be available by late afternoon. See, that's the problem with a boss who wants a regular schedule.

My phone is a "tri-mode" phone, doing analog and digital, effectively. I've Clearnet Telus's coverage map, if that's of any help. From my experience, there are some patchy areas, but on the roads should be good.

Gimme a call tonight after 7pm if I haven't recommented and remind me. I'll do a state check and let you know what my status is. If you really do need the phone, I can always lend it. ;)

Umm. I don't think Late Afternoon is going to work. We're hoping to be back by sundown, which is 6:00 pm these days. As its a couple hours trip either way, and we want time for sight seeing, that means we should head out no later than noon. Ideally, we'd actually hit the road at 9 or 10 am, giving us the whole day to do this sightseeing/experiment.
