I need to get out more. Its gotten so I can't tell when its the weekend any more.

And here's a problem with Google: There's a folk singer that I heard many years ago. He came to our elementary school in BC, so this was a LOOONG while ago, but he was a young guy then, so he's probably still alive. He had a female companion, but I quickly forgot her name. His though, was memorable enough to remember: Duck Donald. (And yes, 'Duck' really was his legal first name.)

YOU try googling for that name. Not going to work. At all. Ever.

I once came across something that made me think that maybe the lady's name was Cathy Fink. Further googling seems to indicate that its possible (right age, right proffession, does kids shows) but I've never found a reference to Duck Donald yet.

Edit: Thanks! Now that I've found out that I didn't imagine him, and that he did produce a few albums before his untimely death, I have to find a way to get a hold of CDs of some of those albums. How would I find out if one was ever released on CD?

So, a bit more than a week ago, I was in the middle of my shifting-the-hours around thing (which, much to my amazement, is still holding) and working to try and restore a deadish web server. The result was that it was something like 6:00 am, and I had been up since just before midnight, trying to fix the thing.

[livejournal.com profile] taxlady reminded me that she was going to check out Networking + Plus, a local business networking group. They have a fortnightly 7:00 am breakfast get together, and I decided to tag along. She had gone to a cocktail event that they had held earlier and described it as rather laid-back and informal. You essentially just wondered around asking folks what they do, and telling them what you do, and exchanging business cards. The idea is that if either of you ever discover yourself in need of (or know someone in need of) the other persons services, you would already have a convenient contact. So, I decided to tag along.

Long and Rambly and Quite Boring... )

In the end, I find myself of two minds about the whole thing. On the one hand, I find it very difficult to force myself to be sociable in this way, and I'm not sure what ultimate good will come from it. On the other hand, this is giving me experience in meeting new folks and in trying to sell myself, skills that I certainly lack.

Bored.

I'm just sitting here in abject boredom while I *know* everyone on my friends list is out having an exciting life, and doing wild and amazing things.

Hmph!
