Tea.

Making tea isn't complicated. Unless, of course, you've just woken up and haven't had any tea.

Upon waking today, I went downstairs and noticed that there was tea in the thermos from last night, but it was cold. So I put it in the microwave to nuke while I started a new batch of tea. Knowing my mental state, I sent a message to my brain: "Urgent: Don't forget to get tea!", so I wouldn't forget it in the microwave.

Sure enough, I've cleaned out the teapot, added new tea, filled the kettle and set it to boil, and I've completely forgotten about tea in the microwave (which beeped and finished heating sometime during the setting up of tea.)

I'm getting ready to leave and I get this message:
"Urgent: Don't forget to get tea!"
I look at the stove and think "Teas not ready yet!"
"Urgent: Don't forget to get tea!"
I look at the stove and think "Teas not ready yet!"
"Urgent: Don't forget to get tea!"
I look at the stove and think "Teas not ready yet!"

I must have been in that loop for a minute or so before it occurred to me that I could shut up the voice by getting tea from the microwave...

I went for a walk just before sundown, to stretch my legs. I'm very glad I did. The wind was blowing something fierce. I've always liked winds, and the strong ones in particular, but we usually only get strong winds here in the middle of winter when they suck the heat straight out of you. This was different. The sun was still warm, the leaves were blowing around and the air smelled nice and fresh. I really do need to make a habit of going for walks again.

On other notes, I've had the item 'megatokyo' in my interest list for ages now, because I accidentally copied it off of someone else. I didn't delete it because I've read enough cyberpunk and/or watched enough anime that I know the name megatokyo is really common, and I have an affinity to both of those genres. Anyway, today I stumbled across http://www.megatokyo.com, which I supect is where the item name comes from. I think I'm addicted. At least, I've been steadily reading the archives and enjoying them.

I've spent the day catching up on a huge backlog of technical e-mail lists. Found amidsts the clutter was this gem:

"The Daily Evergreen would like to sincerely apologize for an injustice served to the Filipino-American, Spanish-speaking and Catholic communities on the front page of Thursday's Evergreen. The story "Filipino-American history recognized" stated that the "Nuestra Senora de Buena Esperanza," the galleon on which the first Filipinos landed at Morro, Bay, Calif., loosely translates to "The Big Ass Spanish Boat." It actually translates to "Our Lady of Good Peace."
