Call me a wimp, but I find that I need to be able to breathe in order to sleep. With this cold, and the way my sinuses are clogged, I'm finding it nigh impossible for me to sleep. The normal frustrating way a cold works for me is that my sinuses drain when I'm upright, and clog when I lay down, and the secret is to be tired enough that I fall asleep in that short interval between laying down and not being able to breathe.

Right now, despite dosing myself with a number of patent cures, my sinuses won't unclog even if I'm upright. If I can't get them working soon, I'll resort to taking an extra-hot shower, and just hope I don't wake any of our houseguests up while doing so.

You may find what I do helpful. In the winter time, actually going outside in the freezing weather may unblock the sinuses. I, for one, just clog up more with steam (the old fashioned humidifiers or a kettle or hot shower).

Give it a try. You may be surprised.

Healing hugs,
H.

OK, you're a wimp. :-) I'd call you a cab but you're already at home. :-)

Seriously, I have to agree with helenkacan. I know you said it does not work for you but cool moist air does wonders. A shower helps but I've found it less useful than going outside. Naturally, if your house is dry then once back inside or out of your shower, the problem will return.

Anyway, best of luck with your sinuses. Speaking as one who has suffered and continues to suffer from those problems, I know how bad it can get and feel for you.
