I'm going to be trying to accent the positive in my life for the next little while, and not dwell on the negative. I don't actually post about the negative things in my life much on LJ, but I sometimes spend far too much time brooding about them. Sometimes I think I'd brood less if I did post them here, but I'm always afraid someone on my f-list will get upset. (And sometimes they'd have cause, if I posted some of my thoughts).

Anyway, I've already wandered off topic. Today I shall try to enumerate 5 things that went well today:

  1. We managed to give Sucha another dose of medicine.
  2. We had fish for supper, which I have been hugely craving.
  3. I got a lot of work done on the Anticipation website today.
  4. The website now looks a heck of a lot better.
  5. The major headaches seem to have gone away.

It is a very good idea to concentrate on the positive things as that will help you realise that there are more than just bad things in your life. I got the same advice from the psychologist at the hospital. However, venting a little can also be a good idea as this seems to help us avoid brooding over bad things - or, worse, over things that seem far worse than they really are.

If people on our f-list might get upset over something you write it might be an idea to find another media. In my experience a good, old-fashioned paper diary is actually very good for countering brooding. The act of writing stuff down on paper helps me reflect upon them and figure out how I really feel about it. And (I hope) no one will ever read those thought except myself so there's no point in holding back.

Good luck with it :)

All good things to be thankful for.

I listened to this annoying but accurate motivational tape that talked about "The Gratitude Principle" and I myself have been trying to incorporate that into my own life...but I always feel like I fall short. I suppose that as long as the gratitude outweighs the opposite...it's good. I don't think you complain on here. You do not strike me as a negative person at all!

I also decided some time ago to try to post only positive things here. Thus, I hardly post any more. It's a sad thing, but yes, keep emphasizing the positive. I have this theory that if you keep smiling, eventually you'll believe it -- and there are tons of good things out there to be noticed.

*superhugs* it's not very easy sometimes to be positive, although some have pointed out that I'm usually a positive person... or that I usually was (I have not been the same person over the last 5 years or so). So here goes.

5 thins that went well today:
- Brunch with the ladies (OMG! I had a blast)
- I made new friends
- Lester voulounteered to get me some groceries
- I have eaten well and watched my fat intake
- I'm in a happy mood (the me that I like to be) today.
