Here's a great article about a man who cares deeply about powerful cars, and the environment. He's managed to modify Hummers so that they run on biodiesel, have four times the mileage from a tank of gas, and have double their original horsepower.

There must be some catch. They used to say, for example, that electric transmissions were insufficiently efficient when small (but perhaps that is explained by the fact that we can do higher flux densities now?). Turbines have also been unpopular on safety grounds. Or is that all just lies?

There must be some catch, surely. They always used to say that diesel-electric was insufficiently efficient if it was smaller than a railway locomotive (but perhaps we have higher flux densities now?). They always used to worry about safety considerations with turbines, and hydrogen likewise.
