Well, we're back from the vet and its looks like
sucha has mouth cancer. Its almost certainly terminal. We were given some anti-inflamatories and antibiotics to control secondary infections, but they're just going to provide a bit of relief. They took blood samples to see if she also has liver and/or kidney damage, because its not even possible to confirm the (very slim chance) that the cancer is benign without putting her under, and they can't do that if she doesn't have healthy liver and kidneys.
If we do nothing, she may last another few weeks, but she's going to be in constant pain if we do that. We'll know more about our options when we get the bloodwork back on Friday, but it seems very likely that we'll have to put her down.
