Missed Opportuniities.

It seems like there were a bunch of LJ folks at
archdiva's party that I've been wanting to meet, but I never realized who they were. For example,
evil_mom, was there, who I (completely irrationally) love because of her icon:

For all I know I talked to her, and to several of the others I've wanted to talk to, but never figured out who they were. At no point during the night though did I think to ask anyone their LJ names. It might have been awkward anyway, tapping various half-naked, fully-naked or lustfully engaged people on the shoulder and asking "Hey, are you on LiveJournal??" Then again, maybe it would have been considered normal. I must admit, Emily Post never prepared me for the particular social circumstances I found myself in there. More's the pity.
This also completely ignores the class of folks who I've met before, have been told their LJ names and their real names, and have had long conversation with in the past, but still completely failed to recognize at the party. There are at least two such people I know of so far... and probably there's a bunch more.
