At the 'Rents
Feb. 14th, 2007 03:52 pmWe arrived at my folks place around 23:30, technically while there was still 30 minutes left in my Dad's 70th birthday. He was still up, although Mom had gone to bed already. So we wished him a happy birthday, drank some wine, ate the last of the cake, and chatted.
Around 2:00 am, he headed off to bed, followed shortly by me.
taxlady didn't join me for a couple of hours. She stayed up and internetted or something until a short-lived power failure sent her to bed.
This is now the next day. The snow has been coming down hard and steady, but it doesn't look like much of an impediment for going to the restaurant to officially celebrate the old guy's 70th. Meanwhile, other than snacking, I haven't been doing anything.
One of the very relaxing aspects of coming to visit is that, while there is much that I could do, there is nothing that I should do, so there's no guilt in just sitting and chatting, or reading a book.
Right now the stress relief is well-needed.
