Flikr Friends?

I do have a Flikr account. I don't use it to host images, as I have my own server for that, but I wanted to be able to comment on other folk's photos that interested me. Now, I've recently discovered that there is a friends system there similar (I think) to LJ where you can control what images someone sees based on who you've friended. Naturally then, I'm inclined to friend a bunch of the folks on my f-list who publish interesting images. The thing is, I can't for the life of me, figure out how to do that.

Any advice?

There's two way, the not obvious but quick way once you know it, and the marginally discoverable but slower way you might have found, would you have digged even more.

The discoverable way is that you go to someone's profile (which you can find a link to near the top of their photos page), and on the right, near the top, there's a "add foo as a contact".

The not obvious way is that if you hover your mouse for a few milliseconds over their user picture, a down-arrow will appear to its right, which can pop up a menu, from which the first option is to add as a contact.

It's still better than MySpace. ;-)
