Not Over Yet.

swestrupMy Internet woes are not over yet. Yesterday we bought and ran the 100' phone cable that both the Bell technician and the phone guy at Reno Depot said would be fine. Well, I'm still getting drop-outs and disconnects every 10 minutes, and I just phoned my ISP to ask about it.
They say that ADSL recommends no longer than a 6' cable between a modem and the ADSL splitter. You get (they say) signal degredation over that length. *sigh*
I'm going to go online and do some more research, but if its borne out then I'll have to move the modem into the basement and replace the 100' phone cable with a 60-100' network cable. I'll also need an extension cord and possibly an auger bit for my drill since I don't think the hole we have between the floors will take another network cable.
