I was just idly wondering what good having most website available on a cell phone was, when it occured to me that one could make a website specifically to leverage the mobility of cell-phone users.

My first idea was a sort of geo-caching treasure hunt. You go and hide some nifty item somewhere in the city each day, and then release clues to its location on your website an 30 minute intervals. First to find the item gets to keep it. I wonder if it would be popular?

When I was living in Amsterdam, I occasionally watched a mildly entertaining show on the National Geographic Channel similar to what you described. A team of two people participated in a sort of scavenger hunt in some major world city. They would be given cell phones, and clues would be sent to them in the form of text messages or photos. They would then have to figure out the place referred to in the message and get there, and if they got to a certain number of places within a particular time period, they'd win a short vacation there for a few more days.

I can't, however, remember the name of the show, and it doesn't seem to be on anymore. I also, somewhat relievingly, can't remember the brand of cell phone that they were essentially advertising (at times) in the show.
