I used to score over 180 on these things!

Then again, it never asked me my age, so it wasn't actually possible for it to calculate an IQ. (the Q-for-quotient part of IQ is where you divide by your age...)

Who knows what the above number actually means.

Edit: Okay, graphic has been fixed.

IQ isn'T really divided by your age. Age does factor in, but what really happens is that it's compared to the average score gotten by people your age tested within the year that you were tested. If you have a perfectly averge score, you get an IQ of 100. After that, it bell curves out.

Then again, a proper IQ test takes 4 hours, and can only be done in person, in front of a licenced person. The time it takes you to finish is an important factor, and it has never been posible to score over 140 without shaving a significant number of minutes off the time alloted. Not saying it could not be in the future, but it would likely require all others in your age group for the year to take the maximum time and get a large fraction wrong.

One of my pet peeves is when someone tells me that the average IQ is dropping. That is not possible, as the average IQ is BY DEFINITION 100.

No, they screwed up the graphics. Like one friend of mine scored 150 but the graphic said 84. Another friend scored 135 and the graphic said 80. And I scored 161, but a friend of mine tells me the graphic says 71.

So do it again (if you really care) and just pay attention to the text at the end.

I think the entire site is a (somewhat poorly executed) joke, which always gives the test-taker a genius rating so that he blogs it, and gives everyone else who views the post a dunce graphic to embarrass the poster.

That said, I like to think that the score it gave me (157) is spot-on. ;)

I think it's filtering by IP address. After I took the test I could download the image from my command line (which doesn't have cookies) and I got the genius graphic. Downloading it the same way from elsewhere on the net, I get the dunce graphic.

Cute, although I'm annoyed to have wasted time on it...

No, that's just it, see, to everybody else, your graphic says 83. See my previous comment.

Your knowledge of european geography has nothing to do with inteligence. I can learn the encyclopedia britannica by heart and be dumb as a rock.

I have never been formally tested but I know there is no way in hell my IQ is 158(that's what this test said). Obviously a hoax. I am no moron, but this is exaggerated. Probably something to please AND simultaneously humiliate egocentric folks.

A very bad joke, indeed.

Some people need to get a life!
