There has long been a Croque Monsieur sandwich, and the Croque Madame is not much older. However, as far as I can tell, no one has yet invented the Croque Mondieu. This needs to be corrected. Any ideas?

Mon Dieu...I'm having a heart attack!

Right...

It would be two slices of french toast, cooked on one side, then topped with a thick slice of ham on one slice and swiss emmenthal cheese on the other so that it cooks into the french toast.

You would then make the "sandwich" together on a plate and top with pure maple syrup. Fresh, sliced pineapple on the side would be nice.

...Or on the other hand it could involve puppies skewered to french toast with liquorice sticks, deep fried, all drenched in anchovy and marsbar sauce, and flambeed using the LOX-and-rye method....

Check [profile] badira's latest entry. (Yes she is dead. No this does not stop her from posting.) She has some ideas related closely to this.

White toast.
Fried egg.
Sliced prune.

But if we're going for the Mon Dieu in a literal sense:
- loaf
- fish
- host wafer
- red wine sauce

t!

On sober reflection, I've decided I'm more interested in the Croque Mondoux, which uses the meat of gummis in place of that of the pig.
