swestrupIndividual task suspend-and-resume should be a built-in part of any OS. I'm now 5 hours into a 19-hour video conversion process and my scanner hardware is hung. I won't be able to do any more scanning until I power cycle the box, but I don't want to lose the last 5-hours of conversion.

taxlady will have some rush scanning that MUST be done before the end of the run, and I'll lose my time anyway...
If I could just suspend the processing of that one task until after I'd rebooted, I'd be happy.
