It has long been reported that some people, when in a crisis situation, experience time slowing down as if to give them more time to deal with the situation. The big question in psychology has been: is this an objective phenomena, or some sort of subjective memory artifact?

Recently the question was put to the test in an experiment that involved people bungee jumping backwards and trying to read a rapid sequence of numbers off of a watch while in free fall. It seems that folks really can at least perceive faster when under this kind of stress, since they performed signifigantly better than their land bound counterparts.
