The Singularity is Near
Feb. 17th, 2006 10:01 pmI've been reading the book The Singularity is Near that
wlach loaned me. So far I'm up to page 98 and it has just now started saying (minor) things I didn't actually know already. So far its been mostly explanations of things I already know and some rather good arguments supporting positions I already believe in.
So far, its been worth reading, but I think I'll have to look up many of the documents named in the extensive footnotes to get the full potential of the book.
Oh, and FWIW, I don't buy his definition of 'Order' AT ALL, and his definition of 'Complexity' seems somewhat self-serving. I don't think that damages his arguments though, so I have to wonder why he's doing it. Maybe I'll find out later in the book.
