Global Frog Die-off
Feb. 3rd, 2006 06:57 amThe cause of a disease which has been wiping out frog populations across the globe and has sent over a dozen species into extinction may have finally been worked out. It seems it is a deadly fungus carried by the african clawed frog. That species is unafected by the fungus, but can easily infect others. These frogs were routinely shipped to laboratories around the world for decades, for use in early pregnancy testing.
