Its a mensa intellegence test. They say if you get 19+ right you're a genius. I got 20 right in my first pass through, and am now up to 26. Spelling counts, and they light up when you get one right.

I even managed to get some of the damn biblical ones.

Mensa, of course, make their money by telling people they are geniuses....

You realize you misspelled intelligence.

I've got 25 after staring at it for a bit. Have you gotten any farther than your 26?

I'm missing numbers 5, 8, 10, 14, 17, 19, 28, and 33. I think I'm close on a couple of them though.

Because of course, command of hte english language is the only sign of intelligence.

Bah.

The only intelligence test I will take will no be language related.

There's a disclaimer at the bottom about that, actually.

I guess I am jsut really biased against Mensa in general from bad experience when in high school.

The whole "hey, you're bright, here's some membership" then send the bill at home to the parents a few weeks later.

I've never taken one and don't plan on taking one, because my test results will be faulty, due to my learning disability...doesn't mean I'm not smart, just different... but you guys already knew that lmao... I have thought about taking one many times, but it could only lead to depression lmao.

I tagged 18 on the first try, which makes sense. I've never considered myself Mensa material, except for that part about thinking I'm smarter than everyone else. ^_-

There was also a "Densa"; I saw a newspaper article about it on a bulletin board back in 1984 or so... Google gives a few hits, but I couldn't find a real .com or a .org website... The article talked about a contest Densa was running, and they were talking about making the first price a one-way ticket to some hick town way out in the sticks, and they were hoping a kid would win so that the parents would have to pay for a return ticket and two round-trip tickets... Of course, Isaac Asimov reported about joining Mensa in his autobiography, and wrote that it was not an easy test, as I recall (this must have been in the 60s)...

29, but I really need a coffee :-}.

Only 18 on the first quick pass, though. I *really* need that coffee.

30, but I've finished my coffee. :/

Missing 8, 26 and 28.

31 - got #28. And just when I was beginning to think I was on the wrong track.

32. Only #8 to go.

33. So I've successfully demonstrated I'm as bright as two members of Mensa. Or something. Wow.

Well, I didn't actually know the numbers for 5, 9, 14, 22 or 30 (admittedly I would have met the first four at some point), but that didn't stop me from getting them.

I rather objected to the expected knowledge of sports, about which I know next to nothing, too. But then my limited experience of IQ tests has always been the same: everything's easy except for the questions which require knowledge of something you happen to lack.

I'm tempted to send the following to Mensa:

Re http://www.mensa-test.com/

Do you truly mean to say that only two Mensa members got all 33 questions right?

I'm afraid that you lead me to draw one of the following conclusions:

1. Your membership is limited to a dozen people or so;
2. You're lying in this statement and your scoring of this test, in order to draw people into your organisation; or
3. You're a bunch of dummies.

Or they're only allowed to take it once and it's timed.

That would still be dishonest, given that it send in the instructions they gave us that there was no time limit.

But even so, I think I finished within 90 minutes, probably about 60, looking at the timing of my posts above, so I wonder how tight a time limit.

I surprised myself and got 26. Now the ones I didn't get (6, 12, 15, 17, 28, and 31) are really bugging me.

I got 25 easily, and then SOMEBODY reading over my shoulder started calling out answers, so I have no idea how many more I would have gotten.

Bah - couldn't figure out #19, 28 and 30.

And the only hint I got was from here that it was British sports - that helped a lot....

What swestrup said. If I wanted to ask others the answers, it really wouldn't be much of a test of my intelligence, now then would it? Might be interesting to see if I had the connecivity to others to solve, but that would be a whole other test...
