Nov. 15th, 2003 07:56 pmFirst post in a while. I didn't have time yesterday morning as I made the big mistake of assuming that if I set the alarm for 5:00 am, I would actually GET UP at 5:00 am. As it was, I didn't wake until nearly 6:00, and we were supposed to be out the door by 6:30. Eep. Much mad scrambling ensued.
After dropping the car off to have new tires put on,
taxlady and I had breakfast before going our various ways. I ended up spending the day at Condordia Library discovering that its now a lousy place to do research if you aren't a student. After the car was picked up, we did a minor amount of shopping and then headed over to Minerva for my birthday supper.
It turns out the place has gone downhill somewhat in the last 10 years while increasing their prices and they no longer serve the dish I was hoping to order, so it wasn't quite the perfect evening I had hoped for. On the other hand, I've had much more carefully planned events go WAY WAY worse, so I can't really complain.
This is not to say that I didn't end up enjoying myself and the company of my friends. I was (and am) quite touched that all these folks were willing to come to my birthday meal on such short notice. Some deep part of my psyche always has trouble believing that people actually like me. Events like this go a long way to convince me that they really do, and for that I'm grateful.
