I think you missed the point of science textbook disclaimers: very few public school students are forced to study the Bible in class. Almost all students are forced to take some sort of biology course.
Ironically, though, your Bible disclaimer quietly validates the religion. Really, the only thing it does is spreads some nice fluffy politically correct FUD. Perhaps this image is simply poking fun at a fluffy politically correct disclaimer proposed for biology texts; although it is really hard to tell without proper references.
But school is the only place where people get exposed to the truth; everywhere else: church, home, public, politics, etc., the superstitions are given unquestioning credence. I have saved an old newspaper clipping from a Sunday supplement (from the 1970s), titled "Scientific Creationists Seek Equal Time in Schools". Could the rational, scientific point of view have equal time in the pulpit? -Jim http://www.geocities.com/jameswi.geo http://www.geocities.com/forpropertyrights
Huh. Obviously a different school system where you come from. :^)
Every public elementary and secondary school I went through in Quebec had a Religion / Health class that studied the bible. My daughter going through school now has that as well. And biology was an optional class that I never took.
As for the disclaimer validating, I would think the organized religion espoused is already a very valid method of controlling the masses for personal gain and justifying selfish behaviour.
