I finally managed to get a set of files that were self consistent with respect to all of the dependencies. I think the web stuff could even work now. What's broken though is urpmi, again. All dependencies are satisfied, it just doesn't work. I've done some googling. It turns out to be a common complaint. I suspect that it is dependant on perl NOT having thread support. *HEADDESK*

I'm going to try one or two more things, and then I'm giving up for the day. At least the FCGI stuff should work, unless there are any perl modules that are required that haven't been installed in the latest version. If so, a couple minutes with cpanp should fix that. I'm going to wait for _sps_ to let me know if thats the case.

Actually it looks like a local problem - I have ping but not ssh/scp/http.
