Awake, and already bored...
Jul. 9th, 2005 04:21 pmI think I need to find some regular social activity to get me out of the house. The bowling, was much fun, but it would be good to find something a bit cheaper that I could do at regular intervals.
The only thing that comes to mind right now is roleplaying, but my last attempt at that fizzled. Any ideas?

Or if "real" roleplaying requires too much preparation and/or energy you might settle for board games or card games. There are a lot of good ones around that can be quite addictive. In particular you might want to look at some of the games where your character actually carries over between games. They aren't actual RPGs as it plain and simple boardgame hack'n'slash style games, but it's still nice to be able to have some continuity.
A few examples:
One major problem with table-top strategy games is that the Games Workshop games are usually played by (obnoxious and rule munchkinning) pre-teen, spoiled boys whose parents and grandparents spend too much money on birthday and christmas gifts :-S
Alternately, if your friends find those things amusing, you can get together a couple of computers and play some of the slower games like Neverwinter Nights etc. The pace of those games are a lot slower than other typical "LAN party games" (i.e. RTS and FPS) so it's possible to sit around and joke, brag or tell weird stories.
Hope you find something nice to do!

Date: 2005-07-10 10:15 pm (UTC)Neverwinter Nights is a poor substitute for real face to face, but if that's all there is, give it a shot.
I agree

NWN is, imho, not a role-playing game. It's a Third Person Shooter. But it's great fun to sit around and enjoy some good company, various snacks and bragging about how your small Bag'O'Pixels beat up that big Bag'O'Pixels :-)

Yeah, and we all know about the moral chaos engulfing Denmark.
