Its now Monday... afternoon I guess. I just woke up an hour ago, so I'm still pretty groggy. Not much going on, but I figured if I didn't write something in my journal, I would lose the habit.

Lets see, SPS came down with some sort of inner-ear virus on Thursday (while we were all at Mouse's house) and has had vertigo ever since. He came over to visit Saturday afternoon cause he was feeling better, and promptly felt bad again. So, he's been laying on his back, not moving, or sleeping for the last two days. Its not a problem, since my wife [livejournal.com profile] taxlady once had nursing aspirations* and doesn't seem to mind waiting on sick people. We also have a guest room where he's crashed before -- just not quite so hard.

So, he's just gotten up and he says he's feeling somewhat better, that is, about as bad as he did on Thursday. Meanwhile, of course, both me [livejournal.com profile] swestrup and Linda [livejournal.com profile] taxlady are starting to feel ill now. She's actually sick enough that she's thrown up once, while I've just got the sniffles. Here's hoping that neither of us progress to the vertiginous state that SPS just came through.

In other news, I went to a TorCon3 (61st World Science Fiction Convention) planning meeting, and Ketherian, was actually interested in borrowing Betty Boop, an old Black-and-White 386SX-based Comodore laptop that I've had sitting in a drawer for ages. It runs at 12.5 MHz, has only 4 Megs of ram, and a 60 Meg hard disk. Oh, and the battery is shot. Still, its almost as useful as it ever was, and if one only wants to type notes into a text editor, its fine for the job. So, I've been installing a bunch of old software on the machine to get it going again. Talk about a blast from the past.

* Linda took exception to that particular turn of phrase. It turns out she never aspired to be a nurse, but that she acted as a nursing assistant while in med school going for her MD. I figure she would have made it if the peer pressure of the times (mid 60's) hadn't been to "Tune In, Turn On, and Drop Out".
