New Search Engines: Music and Shapes

Scientific American has an article here about innovation in the world of search engines. Of particular interest to me were Meldex by the folks at the New Zealand Digital Library (a favorite resource of mine) which allows you to type in a few notes from a tune you heard, and have it search for all music with that note pattern in it, and an experimental 3D Search Engine that allows you to sketch a shape and have a database searched for objects of that shape.
