Blurgh and Epiphany
Sep. 12th, 2003 09:37 pmThe Blurgh: I've been feeling under the weather this week. Not actually sick, but not well either. Its like I've been thinking through a blanket of fog, and I haven't been hungry. It seems to be going away now though.
The Epiphany: This actually occured just after we returned from the WorldCon, but its been rattling around in my skull ever since. It was the next morning that Shrederik, the bigger cat (who seems to understand, but not speak English (or maybe his diction is just atrocious -- he has posted here on LJ...)) came up to me as I was making breakfast and said 'MROW'. Now I know he didn't want what I was making (he hates most people food), so I ignored him. He was insistent though, and repeated 'MROW' at me several times. Eventually I started asking him to be more specific. Was something wrong? Did he want me to give him something? Was there something he wanted to show me? Did he just want some attention? To all of these questions he just answered 'MROW'. Finally, in a moment of inspiration I asked him: "Do you just want to say 'MROW' at me?" At that, he perked up his ears and tail, said one more 'MROW' and wandered off. Then it struck me, in a very Marshall-McLuhanesque moment. The MROW wasn't meant to be interpreted in human terms! The MROW was the message!
