A recent experiment has shown that a mouse grown from a cell which has had all of its junk DNA removed is as healthy and as normal as the Scientists could measure. The reporter was quick to assume this meant that Junk DNA really was junk, but the scientists were not so sure. Since at least one of the theories of Junk DNA that I've heard of have to do with how its a mechanism to control variability in descendants (which wasn't be tested by this experiment), it is, indeed, to early to jump to any rash conclusions.
