Things I learned from the Muppet Show.

I'm not really sure what I learned from this skit about fear by Zero Mostel on the Muppet Show, but it had a profound effect upon me. Maybe because it resonated on so many levels. Zero's 'final fear' is one of my greatest hidden fears.

Ugh.

I should hit 50,000 words today in my NaNo novel. My plan was to do that yesterday, but I didn't manage. When I discovered that the words weren't coming, I decided to head to bed, only to be kept up by my muse (bitch!) who would not let me sleep until I made countless fruitless attempts to build a mathematical model of an idea I have for another story which I'd already decided I wasn't going to touch until December.

When I finally convinced my brain to let me sleep, sometime around 9:00 am, I slept soundly but awoke from a very unpleasant dream. I do NOT need to be having dreams which tell me that I'm useless as well as incompetent in my chosen field, thank you very much!

It may take some time to wake up and get into the writing mood, but I WILL hit 50,000 today. 52,000 would be best. Then I'd be on track for 60,000 by the 30th.

Sunday Writing.

Normally, Sunday is a really good time for me to write. There are fewer distractions, and my various mailinglists slow to a trickle so that I don't keep having distracting new messages show up that I want to read. LJ is also usually quiet so it doesn't distract either.

Another plus is that my favorite erotica site updates on Sundays so that I have some extra inspiration when writing my own erotica.

However, THIS Sunday what I need right now is some distraction to get me into a different state of mind; one from which the idea of writing is more accessible. So far, no luck. The erotica site hasn't updated yet either. Bleah.

Wishlist.

Just in case anyone is thinking of getting me an expensive present, this monitor is now officially on my wish list. I don't care if I'd have to knock down a wall to get it to fit in my office. I would find a way!
