Didn't get as much written in the last two days as I'd hoped. Yesterday I mainly went back and elaborated on some scenes when I realized that the current chapter (which overlaps the previous in time) has events that would have been visible in the other. Mostly I added new stuff, but I had to rearrange and fuss with some stuff to get it to work out. I know, that counts as editing and I should avoid it, but I needed to know how things played out from one perspective before I could write it from the other, so I fixed things as little as possible to let me go on.

Today I spent trying to write a long and introspective section but kept getting distracted by Wikipedia in an attempt to figure out how I was planning to solve the individual plot problems the character was musing over. I've now got one (or maybe two) new scenes worked out and some tentative ideas on how to solve said plot problems, but not as much extra written as I'd liked. I didn't actually fall further behind mind you, I just didn't catch up any of the 4000 or so words I'm behind in my schedule.

Anyway, here's where it sits:

I'm not sure how much I'm going to get written on Saturday as I'll be spending most of the day downtown recharging mental batteries. Sunday I'll probably go to the writing jam though, to see how it compares to just sitting alone at home and typing for four hours. I strongly suspect that the latter is much more productive when I actually sit and write during my writing time. The problem is that its a lot easier to goof off at home. So we have the question of what works better for me: dedicated writing in a sub-optimal environment downtown, or semi-goofing-off writing in my little fortress of solitude. I guess we'll just have to do the experiment to find out.

Well, not late late, but late. I've had some coffee, and I've just gotten out of the shower. In another fifteen minutes I need to be dressed and heading to the bus stop if I'm going to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] sps for noon for that late breakfast we have planned.

All I'm doing now is waiting to dry off enough that getting dressed is doable. Luckily my hair has never taken long to dry, and now that I have so much less of it, about five minutes of waiting is all it should take. I'd have been right on schedule if I didn't somehow completely forget to shower this morning when I first got up. Usually when on a tight schedule I do that first so that I can be drying off while having my first coffee. Today I just didn't think about it until I was about to get dressed to go out and realized I was still unabluted.

*eyes clock* And now I need to go do that getting dressed thing I mentioned because I really would not like to miss my 10:40 bus. On a Saturday they're few and far between.

Got back about an hour ago after spending the day with [livejournal.com profile] sps. It was nice to get out and connect with an old friend like that again. We had breakfast (after a certain amount of running around in the rain and waiting in line), sat and chatted in a coffee shop, and then had supper.

All in all it was excellent for my morale. On the other hand, I spent more than I had planned. That's pretty much it for me doing anything at all expensive for the rest of the month at least. Still, I think it was worth it. I was beginning to feel like I was growing moss here at home.

My only regret is that I didn't get one word writtin on my NaNoWriMo novel (although I did have [livejournal.com profile] sps help me with some plot points). On the other hand, tomorrow is dedicated to nothing but writng (and travelling to and from writing locations...) We'll see if a writing jam helps my productivity at all, or not.

And now, I'm feeling warm, contented, and sleepy. I may just call it a bit of an early night.
