It seems that new calculations of the size of Xena, the recently-discovered Kuiper-belt object place it around 1.3 times the size of Pluto, making it increasingly hard to justify not classifying it as a 10th planet, if we're gonna continue to insist that Pluto is a planet. Yesterday Bush gave his State of the Union address. There is much blogging about the results, but here I find two perspectives that I found interesting:

This blog talks about the useful medical research that Bush is trying to ban, and what harm such a ban does.

On the other hand, this other technology blog, while having reservations on Bush's stand on biotechnology is generally far more upbeat about his proposed changes. Enhanced funding for schooling, basic research, and alternate energy sources all met with approval.
