Yesterday.

So, I'm awake and in a good mood for a variety of reasons, most of them having to do with having friends. taxlady and I went out to Old Dublin last night to meet up with a bunch of folks, including azrhey, pphaneuf, blacksquiggles, kyotto, and sfllaw. (I hope I didn't forget anyone.)

I found myself grinning from ear to ear several times during the night, including during picture taking of the cell-phone bondage diaramma. Good times.

I'm also pleased as punch that I've taken possession of one of my Birthday prezzies! I got money from my mom which yesterday was used to buy me a new office chair. Its currently still sitting in its box, since I was too wiped last night after getting home from Dublin to put it together, but today should be different.

I have a chair again!

Just finished putting together the office chair that I bought with my Birthday money. Its much more comfy than the wooden thing I've been using for the last two years.

Yay!

Could I just STOP having computer problems for a while? Thanks!

Well, the web/mail server here just died again. No idea why. I wasn't getting my mail so I tried to log into it to see what was up. Nada. It was completely hung. It ignored the keyboard, none of the services responded, nothing.

Having tried all else I rebooted it. Not that I wanted to, mind you. I was on DVD #20 of a supposedly 14 DVD backup. I hadn't been able to finish because I only HAD 19 DVDs left, which should have been enough.

So, I've just trashed another 19 DVDs, after the 8 I trashed yesterday when my session closed itself spontaneously.

Now, it may turn out that I could really use that backup because when I try to boot, all I get is 'LI'.

Hopefully its nothing major, and I can fix it tomorrow, but who knows? I'm certainly not going to try to check it out tonight, as I was just now getting ready to go to bed. This sort of stress at bedtime is NOT what I needed!

Of course, this is made even worse by the fact that hendrikboom, who maintains my the alternate mailserver phoned me yesterday to tell me it had been compromised and that it would be down for a few days to a week while he reformats and rebuilds it.
