Seriously, what happened to today? I just now got back to the computer and finished reading slashdot. I normally do that immediately after LJ and the comics, usually when on my second cup of coffee of the day. Now, there was an awful lot of email and EBay related stuff that I took care of, but NONE of it was actually on my list of things to do today, and so I sit here thinking, Huh?

I mean, I feel like I've been working all day, and that its time to relax before bed, but on the other hand I don't feel like I did a damn thing. Grumph.

Well, I'm awake now and drinking coffee. My days have been slipping further and further towards waking up in the afternoon/evening, but considering how humid its been in my office mid-day this last week, I haven't felt inclined to do anything about it. Today, though, its quite nice in here. Go figure.

On other news today is [livejournal.com profile] taxlady and my 8th anniversary. We were planning to be on our little getaway by now, but we've been too busy to make plans for a vacation! Still, we are planning to head off for a few days in the not-so-distant future. We just need to sit down and do some planning.

So, we ain't got a big celebration or anything planned for right now, other than a glass of wine maybe. What counts though is that we're still together and still in love.

On the master todo list of projects I've never had the time or money to pursue was "Technical Discussion Fora System" which was an attempt to formalize a design of the kind of structure that the working usenet groups had, back before there was spam on netnews. The idea was to have a system which let anyone comment on anything, and anyone else rate articles as they wished. By being rated UP by other folks, people would gain status, and their posts would get displayed in ever more prominent places. As well, the opinion of others who were well recieved would weigh stronger than the opinions of folks no one listened to. Now, I don't think that solution is quite right, and it would probably need tweaking and some checks and balances, but it was the general idea. Kuro5hin does something vaguely similar, as does Slashdot, but neither of them is optimized for intelligent discussion.

Now, I've just read about eucalyptt and I can't tell if its exactly what's on my design list, but it sounds close, at least at first reading.
