I decided to try and figure out the problem with SSH (which still doesn't work) so that _sps_ could try some remote debuggering tomorrow. Instead I discovered a config panel where 'Start X on Boot' had been disabled. One click later, and everything Xist is back to normal on Webigail.

Now if I could just get SSH working.

I guess THAT's the job for tomorrow.
