Yesterday.
Mar. 5th, 2004 12:45 pmI had intended to post about my 'day' yesterday, but never did. It was a long and quite successfull day, even though I never got any work done. My day started around 10:00 pm after a very long sleep following a large bout of insomnia. As I awoke,
taxlady was laying down for a nap.
I spent the next four hours or so reading LJ, doing email, drinking coffee and the normal wakeup routine. After that,
taxlady got up and started sorting old clothes to put out for the Quebec Foundation who come by occasionally to collect old clothes and stuff. We needed a large box for all the stuff we were getting rid of, and I remembered there was one in the basement I had been meaning to get rid of.
That box contained lego, and I remembered that I had once had plans to fill it up completely with new bought sets, but never had. I collected a stack of empty tin boxes we had laying around to transfer the lego to, and then hauled down the big box from off the top shelf in the basement where its been sitting for the last 5 or 6 years.
I was surprised at the weight of the box, and discovered it to be close to 1/3 full of lego. I guess I had gotten further in my scheme that I remembered! With the aid of one more tin box and a couple of shoe boxes, I did manage to transfer all of my lego. Its now in a much more convenient storage form although it clearly needs to be sorted properly. (Zip-locks full of identical bricks testified to the fact that I have had this idea before). I then hauled the big box up and gave it to my SO to pack clothes into.
She then took a computer break while I fixed us both a breakfast of bacon and eggs.
Afterwards I helped her go through the closet in the guest bedroom and select clothes that no longer fit me (most of them) and in the end will filled two large boxes with clothes and got them out just at the 8:00 am pick up time rolled around. (Technically, they pick up between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, but getting it out for 8:00 meant there was no worry we'd missed them).
By then I was pretty pooped, but feeling I had accomplished two tasks that had needed doing for some while. I ened up spending the rest of my 'day' doing some simple internet research and getting help on the Montreal forum with other internet research. What I didn't do was any debugging, since I didn't really feel capable.
Maybe I'll get around to that today.
