Sleep Disruptions

Sunday night I didn't sleep, at all. I chalk it up to being too stimulated. Due to various things going on, we didn't eat until sometime around 11:00 pm. I was actually shocked to see it was midnight when I sat down to read my email while digesting. I personally find that I can't sleep for 4-5 hours after eating supper, so that was a major cause right there.
On top of that, I was working on a personal project which had suddenly veered into me having to learn javascript. (Its not even a web project, but I'm using HTML as a print layout engine, and found out there was something I couldn't do with plain CSS). So, I was obsessing about getting this one small feature working, and I kept discovering more and more bits of javascript I had to learn. So, too much food in me and an overstimulated mind lead to lack of sleep.
There were compounding issues, of course. I've got a bunch of early morning stuff happening in the next few weeks, so I got anxious about wrecking my new morning schedule -- which also made it hard to sleep. One of those vicious circles I sometimes fall into.
So, I decided to read a bit to calm me to sleep, and the random text turned out to be both funny and engaging rather than soporific as I had assumed. I haven't been reading much fiction lately and I'm as likely as anyone else to lose sleep because I can't put down a good book.
All together it must have been 10 or 11 am the next day before I felt I could fall asleep, but I decided to prop my eyes open with toothpicks until 6:00 pm or so, so I could salvage something like a normal schedule. I made it to 5:00 pm and then simply had to sleep.
Just under 12 hours later, I awoke. 5:00 am is an hour that I don't particularly like as a wake-up time, but I've had jobs where that was when my alarm was set for, so I guess I'm technically still on a morning schedule here.
Its gonna be a long day though, since its a game night tonight and I probably won't be home and in bed before 11:00 pm. Oh well, at least it hasn't completely disrupted my schedule.
