Okay, That's New

swestrupIts 8:00am, which is when I was planning to get up, however the alarm never had a chance. I was blasted out of my sleep by a dream at 7:45; a dream of a completely new type. Oh, I've had nightmares, and surreal dreams and pleasant dreams but this is the first time a dream has caused me to wake in a state of righteous indignation.
The plot of the dream is irrelevant and (as such things do) makes no sense at all in the light of day. The theme of the dream, if you will, was some sort of love triangle/quadrangle where miscommunication and misunderstandings abound as one might find in any of a hundred anime stories. In the story I was stupid enough to take the advice of some folks who only made matters much worse, rather than following my inclination of letting everyone know everything that appeared to be going on.
When things finally came to a head, and I was determined to sort things out to whatever extent they could be, to explain what had gone on and what had not, and to take any lumps that were coming to me, all the folks with the bad advice showed up to gloat at my downfall. Its hard to express the indignation I felt when, in my dream, I realized that there are folks (a fictitious extended family) who should be looking out for my welfare but who were far more interested in rumor mongering and scandal and who were perfectly happy to think they deserved to sit in judgment of me (and worse yet, those close to me) without ever stopping to consider how their actions had contributed to the problem.
I exploded into a very uncharacteristic tirade against them and was in the process of kicking them out of the house when I woke up, adrenaline pumping.
Like I said, this is a new one on me. I can see any one of a dozen contributing factors to this dream: the webcomics I was reading before bed, the current financial crisis, a recent movie I watched, and so on. How things got muddled into the bizarre form they took is another. All I can say is that I'm glad I was born into a family that is basically sane and rational, and not the sort of family that some folks have to deal with.
