Name Dropping
Oct. 20th, 2008 10:21 pmJust got back from the South Bay NaNoWriMo kickoff meetup. They've decided they aren't doing a kickoff party this year, although they are doing both a half-way and a thank-got-its-over party.
It was rather crowded as over 50 folks showed up for the event, when I think our hosts were expecting maybe 20. Many of us were also surprised when Chris Baty (NaNoWriMo's founder) made a visit as well. He seemed quite pleased with the huge turnout.
There was a raffle, and I actually won something! Only what I won was a poster, and I don't really think I should be hanging one up here at the hotel, so I gave it to the guy beside me, who'd been audibly lusting after it before the raffle began. Still, it was nice to win something for once!
And now, I need to get ready for bed, as the alarm is set for the ridiculous hour of 5:30 am. (And the even more ludicrous hour of 4:30 am for the day after... Oy.)
