I just woke up. I crashed last night around 6:00 pm. I was just too tired to keep my eyes open. I slept nine hours, but I feel like I needed 12. I'm still dead tired. However, after tossing and turning for 40 minutes, it became clear that I wasn't going to fall back asleep, no matter how tired I feel. So, I suppose I'm starting my day now.

My guess is that the tired is what I shall call 'environmental exhaustion'. I'm not used to this heat, and although we have A/C and its quite nice in the house I spent two days visiting folks and wandering around in the heat when it first hit, and I think I strained my heat-regulation dohickey. I found I spent most of yesterday dead tired and cringing at the thought of going outside, much as one cringes at the thought of lifting something heavy the day after doing too big a work-out at the gym.

Seriously, going from single-digit temperatures to record-breaking heat in a week is not something one should expect to endure.

Funny, I've been totally the same way in the sleep department...whenever I read about others having a hard time sleeping I start to wonder if something larger is going on.

But that's me being overly Oogly-Boogly, methinks.

Drink TONS of water. I know, you likely already know this, but it is such an easy thing NOT to do.

You know, I was just sitting under a palm tree by the fountain outside the office and thinking how much this new job sucks....

I think the weather here may indeed actually be nicer than the weather there.
