Is it still a parody if you approve?
May. 31st, 2008 07:05 amI just had the strangest sensation. I was reading through an illustrative bit of fiction in a blog I generally read, and sometimes comment on, when I noticed that one of the characters had a name eerily similar to mine. Coincidence? I don't know, but my first name isn't exactly common.
I certainly have no objection to my name being appropriated in such a fashion, but I do wonder if I'm seeing something that isn't there, or not.

Date: 2008-06-01 11:57 am (UTC)OTOH, what bugs me is reading things like advice columns in which the requester says something like: Well, duh, what if there actually IS a Phyllis Adams? I wish someone somewhere would adopt the practice of using the person's real initials or, gee, just the last initial. So we'd read about Ms. J. L. or just Ms. L. And then you could say that no Phyllis Adamses were harmed in the writing of the column.
Okay, I'll step off the soap box and take my pain killers.
Shaking my head hugs,
H.
