I had a wonderful time at the BBQ in St. Lazare yesterday, and I guess the host must have liked taxlady and I as well, as we've been invited back for another big BBQ in August sometime. Still, I'm paying for it all today.

No, I'm not hungover, although I certainly drank enough that I would have expected it. I guess all the food and the prolonged duration of the BBQ handled that. I didn't even get tipsy, although I was aiming for it.

No I'm paying for it because I was out in the wilderness without DEET and now I'm a mass of itchy mosquito bites. Heck, I have a goose-egg sized lump on my left arm that must be three or four bites all on top of each other. All I know is that its now a large and very itchy swelling.

The dumb thing is that I have some Deep Woods Off for just such occasions, but I never think to use it, because I'm so seldom out in the howling wilderness. I'll have to try to remember to take it for the next BBQ party.

Alas, I've tried just about every topical anesthetic other the years on mosquito bites, and none of them have ever given me more than a few minutes relief. Nowadays, I just don't bother.

YOu are aware that there are always advancements in medicine???

So, who knows? You could find something that actually helps!!!!! I think you should really give the Bactine a try. Even if it doesn't take away the discomfort, you can have it on hand as a hygienic antiseptic delivery system. [And, no, there's no endorsement fee coming from from Bactine into my pockets, either!]

The good thing about mosquitos is that one seems to develop a tolerance after a while...
