Its been many years since B.F. Skinner proved you could induce superstition into pigeons. It seems that WoW gamers have much in common with pigeons as strange superstitions have sprung up around the game, such as the belief that using Diplomacy on an unopened chest would improve the quality of the loot it contained. Even when directly contradicted by the programmers who wrote the code in question, users have continued to believe this.

Isn't Diplomacy something from Vanguard?
(there's no diplomacy skill in WoW)

Actually, that whole thing describes Vanguard. Crafting outcomes, diplomacy, none of those are in WoW (in WoW, you have the materials, recipe, its a given), and its rare that you have to wait around for a monster to appear.

(not that its NOT accurate with WoW...I'm a player and I agree, there's definitely some Skinner box power that keeps the game popular)

I love how all the comments are saying "whoa whoa whoa, not so fast, maybe there's a bug or something! It could still be true!" Granted, maybe there's a bug. But nobody is even paying lip service to the idea of maybe gathering evidence *before* coming to conclusions.
