Yesterday and Today.

Yesterday was the last NaNoWriMo meetup for 2006 (if you don't count the coming party on Saturday). It was fun, as usual, talking with bunches of folks. The problem, of course, is that there are always multiple interesting conversations going on and you can't possibly participate in all of them at the same time. Not to belittle anyone else by choosing a favorite, but I was quite pleased to see
kalkuly there. I've seen far too little of her lately. Luckily she hung around with me,
hendrikboom and
the_lich so we had a chance to chat.
As I was beginning to eye the clock to catch the 10:30 train home,
kino_kid showed up, as she was waiting for the same train. We had a good time chatting on the way to Roxboro, and I offered her a lift to her place rather than have her take the bus, as
taxlady would be waiting to pick me up. When she found out that she would be forced to walk the length of the train platform to get to where I was being picked up she declined, saying she the bus would pretty much get her home by the time we walked that far.
It turned out she was righter than she knew, because
taxlady was still at home, having completlely lost track of the time. I phoned her to let her know I would be a few minutes late, as I was at the wrong end of the train, and she bolted for the door. Fifteen minutes later I was picked up, and fifteen after that I was home.
I hadn't planned to do any more writing that night. I was sitting at 55000 words and figured I would have a marathon today and write 5000, to finish with the 60,000 by midnight that I had always planned on. Well, I opened the wordprocessor to check on something and the next thing I knew it was three AM and I'd written another 1800 words. So, today I just need to write 3200 by midnight to finsih as planned. And that very much IS the plan. I'm just NOW getting to the scene that came to my mind first, four years ago, and was the germ for the entire novel. Oh, its changed and mutated over that period, but its still recognizably the same scene, and I want it WRITTEN dammit.
So, with no further ado, off I go.
